Casual Friday 01 – Puppies, A Book I Devoured, Favorite Podcast, Etc.

In my post earlier this week, I mentioned that one of my blog goals for the year is to share more casual updates with you every now and then. I’ve been feeling a tug for quite some time to bring more personality into this blog, sprinkled in among all of the tips and tutorials. I’ve been finding myself often wishing for a casual place to share all of the latest things I’m loving like books, podcasts, recent purchases, blogs, funny stories and life updates. I share some personal updates in my weekly newsletter, but I always hesitate adding in a million links to little things  like these because the newsletter would get long in a hurry.

That thinking brings us to today, the very first Casual Fridays post! This post won’t be a weekly series, but probably every few Fridays  or whenever I have a good list of awesome things ready to share with you. We’re going to keep it casual. Sound good?

Yesterday marked one month since we adopted our sweet puppy! Freya has become my little shadow, following me all around the house ;). She is an unknown mix, part Shepherd is really all we know for sure. Her playful side really came out last weekend when I puppy-sat my sister’s new puppy. They had never met and I had my hands full watching two puppies by myself all day. “Cousin” Ruggles wasn’t nearly as playful (much more content chewing a bone in the corner), but he was a good sport at letting Freya wrestle him for hours. They were mischievious little puppies, but their cuteness made up for it! It’s somewhat of a miracle that my living room wasn’t completely destroyed. I was definitely ready for a nap afterward!

I treated myself to a little Amazon order this week, and I devoured the book in two days. This book is packed with styling secrets and is a gorgeous hardcover coffee table book. Emily Henderson is one of my all time favorite designers, and I learned so much about styling and decorating from her book. At the beginning, there’s a quiz that helps determine your style. I’ve never really known what exact decorating style I am, but the book pegged me as Scandinavian and Minimalist. Interesting, huh? The huge photos that illustrated each design style were a great lesson in design. I learned so much from this book that I’m going to write a post about my big takeaways.

I haven’t had a paper planner in years, but I’m already obsessed! I ended up getting these A5 planner inserts with this beautiful striped binder. See yesterday’s blog post for more about my blog set-up and how I’m using it.

The Sorta Awesome podcast is one of my favorite finds of 2016. It’s conversational, funny, girly, smart, light hearted and full of amazing recommendations. And it’s also one of the few podcasts I listen to just for fun, since I usually gravitate toward more marketing focused topics.

Have you seen the 2017 HGTV dream house? It’s stunning. Love the kitchen cabinet color, the dining room chandelier is so interesting, the navy bedroom makes me smile and that garage makeover is incredible.

The new Conquer Your Clutter Super Bundle is here! It’s amazing because you get a TON on resources for a tiny fraction of the actual cost. It’s for sale through Monday if you’re interested.

I’ve been digging Pi-Yo lately and am trying to do a workout during my lunch break a few times a week. It mixes all of the stretching of yoga with the faster pace of pilates, making for a great workout you can do in the living room.

A genius trick for finding product sources from Pinterest photos.

Doug the pug makes me laugh every time.?

Have a fabulous weekend!
