As a lifelong Iowan, I’m always surprised by visitors who are amazed they can see the stars in the sky. That’s something I totally take for granted but it’s an experience many city dwellers have never had.
My home state is filled with incredible views and beautiful farmland, but some may be surprised to know it’s also a state rich with things to do and see. I spent the first six years of my marketing career working in the tourism industry here in Iowa so I can tell you all about the best places to visit (although it’s tough to choose just a few!).
When you visit Iowa you’ll find the postcard-worthy cornfields, fabulous farmers markets and charming Main Streets you might expect from a Midwestern state, but you’ll also find hip cities with explosive local food scenes and lively entertainment districts. Whether you crave an urban adventure or rural getaway, Iowa really is the best of both worlds. You can get from vibrant city centers to astonishing scenic wonders in a matter of minutes.
When I had the opportunity to guest post over at Trivago.com about my favorite places to visit, I knew it would be a great way to share my love for this state.
Enjoy your day!
