We’re one week into the One Room Challenge and I’m feeling spunky about my progress! After a long weekend of painting and collecting some decor items, I can already see my vision coming together.
As a refresher, I started the One Room Challenge alongside a few hundred other bloggers last week, and I’ve set out to make over our master bedroom in five short weeks.
Here’s the mood board I shared with you last week:

At the start of the weekend, I disassembled our bedroom and set to work painting. I don’t mind painting one bit, but I’m sure thankful to have it finished! Here’s what the room started out like:
And now the walls are a beautiful shade of navy and the trim and closet doors are crisp white. The bland beige is completely erased from this room!
See that little bench there? I picked it up during my latest thrift store trip and am considering refinishing it for this little wall by our bedroom door. Thoughts?
This beautiful white comforter came home with me from my shopping trip the other day. I was so excited to find a white Better Homes & Gardens brand comforter in the pin tuck style (that’s an affiliate link for your convenience, see my policies for further information). I have been eyeing for a fraction of the price that I’ve seen elsewhere. I went with white because it pops against the dark walls and will easily transition as I change the decor in this room over time.
My favorite part of every decorating project is collecting all of the little details, those finishing touches that complete a styled room. So of course I’ve already been accumulating a few things (see picture below).
That wire basket was a fun find at a small vintage shop I visited a couple weeks ago. I’m not quite sure what I’ll end up putting in it, but a few scarves or accessories would look darling I think. I want to add a few vintage touches to the room, and the black wire seemed like a subtle way to do so.
The white dotted vase was a superb thrift store find on Saturday. For less than $1, of course I snatched it up! I also found a coconut candle in a tin and a mercury glass tea light holder.
I’m also testing out a couple throw pillows. Not quite sure about the white/silver one, but I’m obsessed with the knit navy one. Both are from Target.
I also spent a few hours selecting a new light fixture for this room. I’ve never replaced a light fixture before, and had no idea how overwhelming it would be to choose one! 1STOPLighting is hooking me up with this beautiful fixture, and I’m excited to install it and show you how it looks in my bedroom.
I spent this whole week painting the walls and trim, and am going to spend the next week painting my dresser and nightstand plus figuring out a game plan for a pallet headboard. I’m also thinking a lot about how to add in accessories with varying textures because texture makes every room feel cozy and stylish.
Alrighty, that’s all I have to update you on this week! Let me know your thoughts on the room thus far and I will keep working away to have some more progress to show you a week from now. Wish me luck!
Have a wonderful day!
