Casual Friday | Frugal Organizing, Recent Read, Tackling Pet Stains, etc.

Hey, friends! Today is Casual Friday, a place where I share the things I’m loving right now and what I’ve been up to lately.

This past month has flown by as both David and I have settled into new jobs in a new city, which also means we’re commuting an hour each way until our house sells. It makes for a long day, but it’s been really nice to carpool together! Our house was listed for sale two weeks ago and we’ve had showings just about every day. We’re hoping for a quick sale so we can buy a new house soon! We’ve done a bit of house hunting already which has been so much fun. I love touring the houses and dreaming of all the projects I’d work on and how I’d decorate each room.

Recent Book

I started a free trial of Audible and am loving it! Listening to audiobooks is a great way to pass the time commuting to work. I’m almost finished with Never Unfriended: The Secret To Finding & Keeping Lasting Friendships and it’s a fantastic book! It came highly recommended and has not disappointed. There are also digital and paperback versions of the book, but if you want to listen to it via audio you can try Audible and get two free audiobooks.

Parenting Super Bundle

As I’m preparing to become a mom, I’m looking for all the resources I can find to help me rock this parenting thing. You can get your hands on a package full of resources with the Parenting Super Bundle, on sale for just a couple more days. With dozens of ebooks, ecourses, printables, workbooks and more digital resources, there’s sure to be something helpful for every parent! And the best part about these bundles? The cost is a steal for the amount of material you get. Check out all the topics it covers here.

Dollar Tree

I’ve become obsessed with Dollar Tree lately! They have so many affordable products that are great for organizing, like the plastic baskets I used to create our lunch packing stations.

I also bought a stack of birthday cards from Dollar Tree the other day. At only 50¢ each, they were a steal! We have a lot of family birthdays in August and I bought some extras to add to my snail mail box for future birthdays.

Always rushing out the door to school and work? Set up a simple lunch packing station to stay organized and save time in your morning routine.

Pregnancy Pillow

This pregnancy pillow has been a life saver! It has helped me sleep comfortably on my side as my baby bump grows. I didn’t think I needed it, but now I don’t know what I’d do without it!

Summer on the Patio

As is the case with most house projects, I only wish I’d fixed up our front patio sooner. Our front yard looks so much more inviting now, and I love having a cozy place to relax in the fresh air. If you missed it, I shared tons of photos in this post.

Removing Pet Stains

We borrowed my in-laws’ carpet cleaner to clean our living room carpet last week and I’m so impressed with how well it worked! My hope was it would remove a couple puppy stains and freshen up our carpet so the faint dog smell disappears. If you’re in the market for a carpet cleaner, this Bissell one worked great for me and is specifically designed for pets. Definitely adding it to my wish list.

Stitch Fix

I tried out Stitch Fix for the first time and it was so much fun I have to share! I’ve always been leery of subscription clothing boxes because I’m usually pretty frugal with clothing, but when I heard they carry maternity clothes I thought it was the perfect chance to give it a shot. I requested business casual maternity clothes that I can wear to work plus a dress to wear to a couple weddings this summer. It was such a treat to unwrap a box full of new clothes – it felt like Christmas morning!

I was amazed that every piece fit my super short legs and growing baby bump. The items were more expensive than I’d typically pay for clothes, but I ended up keeping a cute pair of lilac purple maternity jeans and a beautiful maxi dress that will work with or without a baby bump. If you’ve ever thought about trying Stitch Fix, I’d recommend giving it a shot. It’s not something I’ll do regularly simply because of cost, but it’s a nice treat every once in a while if you have a special occasion coming up.

What have you been loving lately? I’d love to hear about your recent finds in the comments below!

Happy Friday!
