Hey friends! It’s been a while since I’ve done a Casual Friday post so I thought I’d check in quick today and share some of the things I’m loving lately along with a little life update.
Our sweet baby girl was born November 2, so that’s mostly what I’ve been busy with lately! Chloe has become much more energetic and animated over the past couple weeks which has been so fun to see. I head back to my full-time job after Christmas, so I’m soaking up as much baby time as I can during these last days of maternity leave.
A friend of mine visited a couple weeks ago and took newborn photos along with a couple family photos. I’m so glad we took these while Chloe was still so tiny – I feel like she’s already grown and changed so much since they were taken! This is one of my favorites. She almost always has her hands up by her head like this!
We’re somewhat settled into the new house now but there’s still a ton of unpacking and organizing to do. I’ve focused my energy on getting the living room and kitchen organized and decorated since that’s where we spend most of our time. Having a functioning living area helps me be okay with the fact that I still haven’t unpacked half my clothes and our bathroom is a disorganized mess.
I’ve been drooling over beautifully refinished secretary desks lately. I’ve been thinking a lot about the function of our front room and while I know I want a work area, I don’t necessarily want my mess of projects to take up the whole space since it’s the first room you see when you come in the door. For that reason, I think maybe a secretary desk could be the answer! It would give me a dedicated space to work on the blog while making it easy to hide away my planner and office supplies when I’m not working.
I love checking out all of the blogger home tours this time of year! It’s fun to see their spaces all decked out and I always get inspired to decorate my own house! This is one of my favorite home tour blog hops to look through – so many inspiring spaces! Did you visit my holiday Home tour yet?
What I’m Watching
I’m binging The Crown every chance I get. It’s so good! I also recommend The Christmas Prince as a cheesy-but-good holiday chic flick. Both are on Netflix.
What I’m Reading
A friend gave me Emily Ley’s Grace Not Perfection and I’m halfway through it and really enjoying it so far. Plus, the book itself is absolutely gorgeous.
Also, I just discovered you can order magazine subscriptions through Amazon! Did you know this? I just treated myself to this one, this one and this one for $5 each for the entire year. That’s a waaay better deal than they offer on the tear out subscription cards in the actual magazines!
Planning For The New Year
I’m using the Powersheets Goal Planner to evaluate this past year and set intentional goals for 2018. This is my first time using Powersheets and I already highly recommend. Not only is the planner design absolutely beautiful, but it’s also very helpful in setting goals. I love that it’s designed more monthly goal check-ins. Order by Dec. 20th to get yours in your mailbox before January (pssst…they usually sell out!).
Here’s my system for setting 90-day goals along with a free goal-setting printable.
I’m also once again using an Inkwell Press planner. I decided to order the inserts again so I can keep using my pretty striped binder. I also picked up one of the coil free planners to use at work. Read more about my planner in this blog post.
I ordered Christmas cards from MixBook this year and am quite impressed with the quality! This company is new to me and their prices are more reasonable than a lot of the places I’ve looked into getting cards from. It’s not too late to send out cards this year…maybe make them “happy new year” themed? Use this link to get $20 off your first Mixbook purchase.
