Colorful Nursery Decor For Our Baby Girl

I have literally been planning nursery decor for nearly nine months now, which means I’ve had time to change my mind approximately a bazillion times!

As a lover of all things decorating, I’ve dreamed of the day I get to set up a sweet nursery for a long time. But shortly after finding out we were expecting, we decided to make a ton of life changes which involved moving to a new city and a new house. This meant my plans to evict David’s computer from our second bedroom and start in on a big nursery makeover were put on hold until we moved.

While we waited for everything to fall into place over the past few months, I spent a ton of time planning the nursery. (I’ve been using this method for planning a room makeover using Pinterest.) Sometimes too much time to plan can be a bad thing, though, because I may have ended up creating several different mood boards. Oops!

I eventually narrowed them down to two options and let David choose the winner. Now that we’re settled into our new house, it’s finally time to put our nursery plans into motion!

So, without further adieu, here’s the mood board for the very first room makeover in this house–the nursery!

Colorful Nursery Decor Design Plan

I'm in LOVE with this colorful nursery decor! Pinning this mood board for my baby girl's nursery decorating ideas. Such a cute baby room!

Although I love all of the soft and sweet pastel nurseries that are so popular right now, we decided to do something more colorful. David despises pastels and I think a kid’s room is a great chance to play with more color than I normally do.

Using neutral white walls and neutral furniture as a base gives us a lot of freedom to add colorful nursery decor through accessories.

We cut it close getting moved before our baby girl’s arrival, so we didn’t get much done before she was born. But we did manage to paint the walls and set up the crib and a dresser so the bones are in place already!

Here’s what this room looked like when we moved in a few weeks ago:

It doesn't take much to transform a room! Check out how pretty this nursery looks now that it's not hideous pastel green anymore. This white nursery is serene, calm and filled with baby necessities like the beautiful gray crib and the Newton Wovenaire crib mattress.

And here’s what it looks like as of now:

I’ll be slowly working on this room makeover during my maternity leave and will share updates with you along the way!

What do you think of our nursery decor plans? Would you choose colorful nursery decor or something more soft and pastel for a baby girl? It’s a tough choice!

Have a lovely day!
