Is packing lunches always a last-minute effort in your house? Wouldn’t it be nice if you were more organized with lunches this school year? Whenever I find myself needing to organize something around the house, I find that it’s worthwhile to devote a bit of my time to create a better system.
I recently shared my lunch packing stations with you, and I heard from many readers who are putting the idea into practice in their own households. What an awesome way to get organized as your kids head back to school!
In keeping with the lunch packing theme, I have a couple organizational printables to share with you today! I hope they will help take some of the stress out of packing lunches and help you pack your kids’ or spouse’s lunch box with love.
Printable Lunch Planner
As an avid list-maker, I recently created a master list of lunch ideas. Everything is better with a good list, don’t you think? {wink}
I designed a simple, printable lunch planner with space to jot down our go-to lunch box items, which I organized into four categories: main items, fruits/veggies, sides/snacks and treats.
I printed a copy of this lunch planner, filled in our lunch items and hung it on our fridge. This makes it easy for us to quickly glance at it for ideas as we’re packing our lunches for work each morning.
Whether you’re packing lunch for your kids, your spouse or yourself, I hope you’ll find this lunch planner printable helpful!
We tend to stick to the same few things for lunches each day, so the foods on our planner remain the same week after week. But if you like to have more variety in your lunches, you could also fill in a new lunch planner whenever you stock up on groceries. Or you could laminate a lunch planner so you can reuse it over and over!

Printable Lunch Box Love Notes
I also designed little love note cards that you can slip inside your loved ones’ lunches as you pack them!
These print six to a page, so go ahead and print a few copies so you have a stack on hand. I recommend printing on cardstock, cutting them apart and storing them in a kitchen drawer with a couple pens. Jot your kids or spouse a quick note and tuck it in their lunch for a sweet surprise in the middle of their day. It’s an easy way to pack lunches with love!
Grab And Go Snacks Are The Best!
As I shared in my last post about our lunch packing stations, it really helps to have lunch items ready to grab and go. That means taking the time to portion out veggies, fruits and snacks into single servings so they are convenient to grab when you pack lunches in the mornings.
I’ve been on the lookout for yummy single-serving snacks at the grocery store and picked up some tasty ones at HyVee recently. Lance Sandwich Crackers, Snyder’s of Hanover on-the-go packs and Snyder’s of Hanover Pretzels have all made their way into our lunch menu rotation. I love having something crunchy or salty in my lunch box!
Our new plastic snack baskets have been working really well for us! We keep them in one cupboard so they are easy to pull out and grab a few items for our lunch boxes each day.
I keep these baskets stocked with a variety of crackers, chips, pretzels and granola bars. It’s simple to grab them and we get to mix it up a bit each day by choosing different combinations of snacks.
