When Is Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is June 21-22, 2021.

  • Prime Day starts on Monday, June 21 at 12:01 a.m PT (3:01 a.m. ET).
  • Prime Day ends on Tuesday, June 22 at 11:59 p.m. PT (Wednesday, June 23 at 2:59 a.m. ET) — though some deals typically extend a few hours into the following morning, if not longer.

There will also be early deals leading up to the main event, and some are already live! You can see all of the current deals here.

I will be updating this page with some of the best deals as they are announced! The sheer volume of deals available all at once is really overwhelming which is why I put together this list to help you sort through the noise and quickly find deals you’re interested in.

What Is Prime Day?

Prime Day is basically Amazon’s very own version of Black Friday. It’s become a massive shopping event, usually taking place in the summer (the pandemic pushed it back to October in 2020).

As the name implies, Prime Day is an exclusive two-day sale for Amazon Prime members. Amazon is saying there will be more than 2 million deals globally during the 2021 event!

  • Spotlight Deals are the main attraction. They include deals from the top brands with the most popular items stocked with larger inventories. These deals last until they sell out. You can begin previewing some of these deals now and begin adding them to your cart and/or wishlist.
  • Lightning Deals offer great products at steep discounts but you have to be quick on your feet. These usually have a limited supply and the sale only lasts for 5 minutes. You can view Lightning Deals 24 hours before they are launched and if you add them to your cart and wishlist, Amazon will ping you when the deals go live.

What if you don’t have a Prime membership?

  • If you don’t have a Prime membership, you can still take advantage of the deals and free two-day shipping by signing up for a 30-day trial if you are brand new to Prime. But you must have Prime membership or the free trial of it to snag deals!
  • If you’ve had Prime before but don’t currently, you can still take advantage of the Prime Day deals without paying for an entire year membership. Amazon offers a monthly Prime membership which you can easily recoup in Prime Day savings. Just make sure to cancel it before the end of the month!
  • Discounted Prime memberships are available for those on government assistance and those with a .edu email address.
  • Two adults can also share one Prime membership by linking their accounts with Amazon Household.

What things have gone on sale during past Prime Days?

Prime Day will feature more than two million deals globally, and they move fast.

  • Electronics like Kindles, Echos, FitBits, etc. (lots of Amazon devices!)
  • Instant Pots and Cookware
  • Tools
  • Toys and games (think early Christmas shopping)
  • Craft supplies (yes, even Cricut machines!)
  • Grocery, cleaning and pantry items
  • Gift cards

What can you do to get ready for Prime Day?

  1. If you don’t already have Amazon Prime, sign up for a free 30-day trial so you’re ready to take advantage of the deals if one of your items goes on sale.
  2. “Watch” the deals you like by tapping the “Watch this deal” button on items in the Amazon app and you’ll get an alert when the sales go live.
  3. Search “sneak peek” within the Amazon app and get a preview of some of the deals.
  4. Share your Prime membership with family. Invite your family (or any other adult) to share your Prime benefits at no additional cost with Amazon Household.
  5. Turn on notifications on your phone to get notified when deals go live. Tap the app’s main menu (three bars in the upper left corner), then tap Settings > Notifications > enable Personalized Notifications.
  6. You may want to bookmark this page of Lightning Deals – they tend to go FAST and are only offered in limited quantities.
  7. Make a list of things you need or have been meaning to buy. Go ahead and click “Add To List” on any item you might want even if you have NO IDEA if there will be a deal. If/when they go on sale, you’ll get a notification on the app!
  8. Get the Amazon app and log in for the first time, and you’ll get a $10 credit! You can use the Amazon app to add items you’d like to purchase to your watch and waitlist, and then be notified when it goes on sale. Click here to get the app.
  9. Support small businesses. In the U.S., Japan, and select European countries, Prime Members who spend $10 on qualified products on Amazon Storefronts between June 7 and 20 2021, will earn a $10 credit to spend on Prime Day. This is an exclusive offer only for Prime members.
  10. Did you know that using your voice to shop gets you extra early deals?  Customers shopping with devices powered by Alexa (like an Echo or Echo Dot) can get access to select deals a little earlier!
  11. Set up your phone so you can make a purchase if you’re going to be away from your computer. Make sure your username and password are already entered so aren’t searching for them last-minute.
  12. Set an alarm so you don’t miss out on the deals! Some of them go fast.
