Since moving into our first house a couple weeks ago, I have been overwhelmed with all sorts of ideas about what projects to tackle first and how I want to decorate. I’ve been really concentrating on choosing a whole house color palette (there is a wonderful and helpful post about how and why to do it over at Teal & Lime). It’s all about choosing complementary colors that you use in your entire home, creating a nice flow as you go room to room. It will come as no surprise to those who know me, but I’ve gravitated toward a beautiful array of blues.
I’ll share more about the palette another day, but today I wanted to give you a peek at our dining room mood board. We decided to tackle this room first because it’s the only room with ugly paneling and I cannot eat in that wooden room 🙂 I plan to paint all of the trim in the house Designer White. The dining room walls will be Garden Stone with an Artistic Blue accent wall. I can’t wait to see it all come to life! The paint’s been purchased but I’ve barely started painting so it will be a while before I get to reveal the finished project. I’m looking forward to getting rid of the wood paneling and making this room a beautiful place to eat. Can’t wait to share the finished product with you!
What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts! Would you go with a blue this bold? Or are you more of a neutral color lover? Feel free to send me Pinterest inspiration that fits within this style.
Picking paint for a new home is so hard! I commend you for picking a palette for your whole house! That’s awesome! My house is full of soft colors; light, breezy, airy, bright are the inspiration words for my upstairs. Some days I wish I would have used more color in the paint though. I’m considering doing so downstairs. I’m interested to see what your other mood boards are like – maybe they’ll will inspire me even further.
I love the idea of using color in paint. It’s an affordable way to make a big impact. But at the same time, if you paint with neutrals it’s easier to switch up your decor style. Excited to see your basement colors!
